“STARA PESMA” BRANDY
Bajina Basta’s fruit growing region, located on the hills and slopes of the Povlen and Tara mountains, has exceptional natural advantages for the production of quality fruit. The moderately continental climate with large differences in day and night temperatures has a beneficial effect on the aroma of the fruit.
Centuries ago, the ilic family moved to one of the most beautiful villages, the village of Pepelj, located on the slopes of the beautiful Tara mountain. They quickly saw the natural advantages of growing fruit. The specific climate – the southern slopes, which are selflessly caressed by the sun’s rays all day long, gave birth to fruit that contained large amounts of sugar, and the proximity of the forest gave it a specific aroma.
The cold water of the spring called “Zmajeva voda” gave a special freshness to the fruit trees, so their fruits were larger and sweeter than others. From such fruits, the old artisans made a drink that they served only on rare occasions and to selected guests. Barrels made of hundred-year-old oak gave it perfect bouquet. Generations of descendants continued the tradition of raising orchards, making barrels and brandy.

CENTURY TRADITION OF THE ILIC FAMILY
STARA PESMA
Descendants plant fruit and brew brandy on the same slopes to this day. Brandy as brandy – almost the same, yet different, so it was always said that Ilica brandy is more drinkable, songful and more aromatic than others…
